This paper discusses the process of deconstructing gender discourse in order to move the discourse beyond ideas of hegemonic masculinity and emphasized femininity as well as the binary construct, male/female, that exists between them, noting how this construct has been reinforced through biologically determinist discourses and suggesting how these discourses can be changed to serve the needs of secondary education.
