This paper describes many of the key advances in medical technology made between the Second World War and the and of the Vietnam War in 1975. The paper discusses the invention of the kidney dialysis machine, the artificial heart and artificial heart valve, penicillin, the polio vaccine, blood banks, the intercom system (as used in hospitals), and military organization techniques developed in WWII and during the Korean War to deal appropriately with severe field wounds.
