Verdis opera of eternal love and political duty are sprinkled with a little bit of Disney magic in Elton John and Tim Rices AIDA. Their first efforts together since their work on The Lion King, Johns masterful composing and Rices powerful lyrics once again combine to spell success.
The story is that of an ancient love triangle between Aida, a Nubian princess stolen from her country, Amneris, an Egyptian princess, and Radames, the soldier they both love. (Disney on Broadway) At first, the story is set in a modern day museum when Amneris comes to life in front of two strangers and whisks them back in time, where the young man and woman are shown to be Aida and Radames.
