Elder Abuse and Neglect: An Analysis of Cause and Effect
This ten-page graduate paper examines the issue of elderly abuse. The author notes that
abuse of the elderly and a chronic failure to meet their health care needs have become widespread in recent decades, and adversely affects hundreds of thousands of nursing home residents who are dependent on nursing homes for care. Unfortunately, neglect and abuse can be difficult to recognize and are often concealed by care-givers. Although many of the elderly receive good care, far too many care-providers are subjecting helpless residents to abuse and neglect.
