This paper is on the topic of Native Americans in history. Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce, and Crazy Horse of the Lakota, is two of the most important and influential figures in nineteenth century Native American history. Both men dedicated their lives to the struggle for freedom, resisting the European settlers' efforts to herd their people onto small, confining reservations and settle their native lands themselves. Both men were great leaders in this cause, yet their styles of resistance and philosophies on war could not have been more different.
