This paper is on two documentaries on China from Hong Kong, "Journey to Beijing" and "Crazy English," two documentaries that are examples of the national cinema of Hong Kong, and that reflect certain social realities about Chinese history in the 1990s and up to today. Both documentaries are about the people of Hong Kong, one coming before the handover from Great Britain to China, and the other made after. The two films reflect much about the history of Hong Kong and its relations with China over the past decade, based on the actions and statements of the people seen in each.
