This paper examines the nature of the continuted conflict in Northern Ireland between the Protestant majority and the Catholic minority. The history of the conflict is discussed as well as the major parties involved, the causes, the impact on the surrounding region, an examination of recent peace initiatives, lessons learned from the conflict, and the writer's personal perspective.
