This paper discusses the topic of Bilingual Education has been at the forefront of many political debates in recent years. Bilingual education advocates believe that the practice promotes cultural and linguistic diversity, as well as provides a fair and equitable learning environment for every American citizen. It is clear however, that bilingual education only goes to further the isolation of ESL (English as second language) students, and in doing so also furthers the division of our country along ethnic lines.
