The paper consists of three parts. First two sections provide summaries of the main ideas presented in the critical articles on Bartleby the Scrivener by Herman Melville. The third section is the analytical part of the paper, it reveals personal understanding of this literary work, critically evaluating these articles and the story itself. The points and expressed ideas are supported with specific quotations taken from the articles and from the novella.
