Yuri Kochiyama is an amazing woman who has lived through times in concentration camps during the war, was holding Malcolm X in her arms when he was shot, and has become a figurehead for activism everywhere. While this paper examines whether or not her participation in the Civil Rights movement and the black rights movements in the 60's qualifies her as an 'Asian Activist' it is this authors opinion that yes it does - and Asians everywhere should be proud of what she has done.
