Negro Political Life in New Orleans: A Post-Civil War Analysis
This three page undergraduate paper examines Negro political life in New Orleans between 1864 and 1890. The author notes that upon comparing and contrasting the political opportunities for black politicians in New Orleans when the state of Louisiana changed in state constitutions in 1864 and again in 1877, it is evident that neither constitution offered much to Blacks, for they both reflected white political opinion in the state.
