National Identification Cards: An Analysis of Merit
This five-page undergraduate paper examines the issue of national ID cards and expresses support for them. The author notes that a national ID card system is necessary because seventy percent of the American people think it is. They realize that we already use an unsophisticated and outdated ID system that can be easily abused by criminals and terrorists, and have the wisdom to understand that the potential improvement in national security and crime reduction provided by national ID cards is substantial, while civil liberties and privacy concerns are trifling in comparison.
