This paper answers two specific questions regarding the history of labor in the United States. The first describes some of the most pertinent successes and failures of the American Federation of Labor between 1890 and 1930. The second question examines the role of women in labor prior to World War I, following World War II, and then discusses some of the issues facing women in the workplace currently.
